The issue

On certain 318I and 318IS vehicles equipped with an airbag, the knee bolster may interfere with the lower steering column trim cover during a frontal impact. This may prevent the steering colomn from moving foward as designed, thus increasing the risk of driver injury. Correction: The knee bolster will be modified.

Sur certaines BMW 318I et 318IS équipés d'un sac gonflable, le dispositif de protection pour les genous peut entraver le mouvement du couvercle de la partie inférieure de la colonne de direction lors d'un impact frontal. Ceci peut empêcher la colonne de direction de se déplacer vers l'avant comme prévu, augmentant ainsi les risques de blessure pour le conducteur.
