The issue

THESE VEHICLES MAY EXHIBIT A BACKFIRE DURING ENGINE STARTING THAT CAN CAUSE BREAKAGE OF THE UPPER INTAKE MANIFOLD. THIS CAN CAUSE A NO-START CONDITION AND POSSIBLY AN ENGINE COMPARTMENT FIRE. ALSO, IF A PERSON WAS IN THE VICINITY OF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD WHEN THE HOOD WAS OPEN, AND THIS BACKFIRE CONDITION OCCURRED, IT COULD RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY. CORRECTION: THE PCM (POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE) WILL BE REFLASHED WITH NEW PROGRAMMING SOFTWARE.

Description (français)

Au cours du démarrage, le moteur de ces véhicules peut faire un retour de flamme qui peut endommager le collecteur d’admission supérieur. Il se peut alors que le moteur ne démarre pas et qu’un incendie se déclare dans le compartiment moteur. Par surcroît, si le capot est ouvert, une personne se trouvant à proximité peut subir des blessures quand un retour de flamme se produit. Correction: Le module de gestion du groupe motopropulseur devra être reprogrammé.
