The issue

Certain vehicles have lower than specified torque on all three of the steering gear to frame attachment bolts. In this condition, the bolts may loosen during the life of the vehicle. Relative movement of the steering gear to frame may wear and/or fatigue the attaching bolts to the point of breakage or the bolts backing out. This would result in steering gear separation and loss of steering control. Correction: Steering gear to frame bolts will be torqued to the proper specification.

Sur certains véhicules, les trois boulons qui servent à fixer la boîte de direction sur le cadre n’ont pas été serrés au couple prescrit et peuvent se desserrer à la longue. Le mouvement relatif de la boîte de direction par rapport au cadre peut faire en sorte que les boulons s’usent et se fatiguent au point de se briser ou de se détacher. Il se pourrait alors que la boîte de direction se détache du cadre et que le conducteur perde la maîtrise du véhicule. Correction : Les boulons de fixation de la boîte de direction devront être serrés au couple prescrit.
