The issue

On certain vehicles, the steering slip shaft connecting the steering column to the steering gear input shaft may be too long. If this condition exists, the steering slip shaft may put sufficient side load pressure on the steering gear input shaft to break the input shaft. This would result in a loss of steering control and a possible crash without prior warning. Correction: Steering slip shaft will be replaced on affected vehicles.

Sur certains véhicules, il se peut que l’arbre télescopique qui raccorde la colonne de direction à l’arbre d’entraînement de la boîte de direction soit trop long. Si c’est le cas, l’arbre télescopique peut exercer un effort latéral suffisant sur l’arbre d’entraînement de la boîte de direction pour le briser, ce qui pourrait entraîner une perte de contrôle subite et causer un accident. Correction : L’arbre télescopique de la colonne de direction devra être remplacé sur les véhicules visés.
