The issue
On certain motorcycles, the spring in the cam chain tension adjuster can break. If this happens, excessive slack will develop in the cam chain, which can allow the cam to jump to the wrong position on the cam shaft sprockets. If the cam chain jumps to the wrong position, severe engine damage may occur. This may cause sudden engine failure which in turn could cause rear wheel lockup, disturbing the rider's ability to control the motorcycle resulting in a possible crash without prior warning. Correction: A modified cam chain tension adjuster will be installed on all affected vehicles.

Sur certaines motocyclettes, le ressort du tendeur de la chaîne de distribution peut briser. Si cela se produit, la chaîne aura trop de mou et pourra engager la mauvaise position sur les pignons de l’arbre à cames. Si la chaîne engage la mauvaise position, le moteur peut être lourdement endommagé. Il se peut aussi que le moteur s’arrête subitement et que la roue arrière se bloque, ce qui réduit la capacité du conducteur à contrôler la motocyclette et fait augmenter les risques d’accident non prévisible. Correction : Un tendeur de chaîne modifié devra être posé sur les motocyclettes visées.
