The issue
On certain vehicles, one of the two powertrain control modules may intermittently not function as specified on start up. This may allow the twelve cylinder engine to run on one bank of six cylinders only. This condition will cause a lack of engine power and if the engine continues to run on one bank, the exhaust catalyst can overheat on the non-functioning cylinder bank, causing a potential heat damage hazard. Correction: The two powertrain control modules will be replaced.

Sur certains véhicules, l'un des deux modules de commande du groupe motopropulseur peut parfois ne plus fonctionner selon les spécifications de démarrage prévues. Il se pourrait alors qu'une seule rangée de six cylindres fonctionne sur ce moteur douze cylindres, ce qui se traduirait par un manque de puissance et, si le moteur continue à fonctionner sur seulement six cylindres, par une surchauffe du catalyseur d'échappement du côté de la rangée inactive. La surchauffe d'un moteur comporte des risques d'incendie. Correction : Les deux modules de commande du groupe motopropulseur devront être remplacés.
