The issue

Certain vehicles do not comply with the requirements of CMVSS 217. The rear door is not labelled correctly to identify that it is an emergency exit and instructions for opening the door are not affixed to the door. If the operation of the emergency exit door is not understood, an occupant may not be able to open the door and exit the vehicle in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of personal injury. Correction: Dealers will install an emergency exit sign above the rear door. Instructions for opening the door will be mounted near the handle of the door.

Certains véhicules ne satisfont pas aux exigences de la NSVAC 217. La sortie de secours arrière n'est pas bien identifiée, et les instructions permettant de l'ouvrir n'y sont pas fixées. S'ils ne comprennent pas comment utiliser la sortie de secours, les passagers pourraient ne pas être capables de l'ouvrir et de sortir en cas d'urgence, ce qui augmenterait les risques de blessures. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront installer un panneau identifiant la sortie de secours au dessus de la porte arrière. Ils devront placer les instructions indiquant comment ouvrir la porte près de la poignée de cette même porte.
