The issue

On certain trailers, the lower part of the steel frame insert on the retractable tongue may not have been inserted into the brake actuator housing the proper distance before the parts were welded together. As a result, the bottom of the top insert could crack in the area of the gap. If the insert cracks while the trailer is secured to a towing vehicle, the weight of the boat can cause the tongue to buckle and contact the road surface, which could cause a crash. Correction: Dealers will inspect the tongue, and if there is a gap, install a bracket to strengthen the insert.

Sur certaines remorques, la partie inférieure du dispositif d'insertion du châssis en acier sur la flèche d'attelage rétractable pourrait ne pas avoir été insérée à une profondeur adequate dans l'actionneur de frein avant que les pièces soient soudées ensemble. Si la flèche n'était pas fabriquée selon les spécifications exigées, le bas du dispositif d'insertion supérieur pourrait se fissurer dans la zone de l'écartement. Si le dispositif d'insertion se fissurait pendant que la remorque est raccordée à un véhicule, le poids du bateau pourrait faire en sorte que la flèche se plie et entre en contact avec la route, ce qui pourrait causer un accident. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront inspecter la flèche et, s'il y avait un écartement, ils devront poser un support afin de rigidifier le dispositif d'insertion.
