The issue

On certain motorcycles, the positive battery cable may contact a weld bead on the oil tank. This may cause the weld bead to abrade through the cable's insulation and cause an electrical short from the battery through the oil tank and oil lines. This could lead to an oil leak and/or fire, which could result in injury or death to the rider. Correction: Dealers will install a battery caddy with a cable routing channel and protective shield.

Sur certaines motocyclettes, le câble positif de la batterie pourrait entrer en contact avec un cordon de soudure situé sur le réservoir d'huile. Cela pourrait faire en sorte que le cordon de soudure coupe l'isolant du câble et cause un court circuit entre la batterie et le réservoir d'huile et les canalisations d'huile. Cela pourrait causer une fuite d'huile ou un incendie et blesser le conducteur ou lui faire perdre la vie. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront poser un support de batterie avec un canal d'acheminement de câble et un bouclier protecteur.
