The issue

Certain 550I, 650I cabriolet, 650I coupe, and X5 vehicles equipped with a V8 engine, operated in conditions of below-freezing temperatures combined with low humidity, may suffer an electrostatic discharge at the fuel rails. If this were to occur, the engine's Electronic Control Unit (ECU) could be affected such that engine stalling could result. If the engine were to stall, this would result in a loss of power steering. Loss of power steering could lead to a condition in which vehicle handling and control were impaired. Correction: Dealers will install two additional ground cable between the fuel rails and the ground connection of the ignition coils.

Certaines BMW 550I, 650I cabriolet, 650I coupé et X5 munis d'un moteur V8 et utilisés sous le point de congélation et à un moment où le degré d'humidité est bas pourraient présenter un problème de décharge électrostatique au niveau des rampes d'alimentation en carburant. Si c'était le cas, l'unité de commande électronique du moteur pourrait être touchée de sorte que le moteur pourrait caler. Si le moteur calait, l'assistance de la direction diminuerait. Une diminution de l'assistance de la direction pourrait diminuer la manoeuvrabilité du véhicule. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront poser deux câbles de mise à terre supplémentaires entre les rampes d'alimentation en carburant et le raccord de mise à la terre des bobines d'allumage.
