The issue

On certain vehicles, the fasteners securing the steering shaft positioning bracket may not have been tightened to the proper torque specification. If the fasteners are not properly tightened, they may loosen over time and the steering column may begin to rattle. If the condition is not repaired, the fasteners could come out completely. This may result in noticeable steering column movement, which may affect the ability to steer the vehicle, resulting in the possibility of a crash causing property damage, personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect the steering column and torque the fasteners to specification.

Sur certains véhicules, les dispositifs qui fixent le support de positionnement de l'arbre de direction pourraient ne pas avoir été serrés au bon couple de serrage. Si les dispositifs de fixaton n'étaient pas serrés adéquatement, ils pourraient se desserrer à la longue, et la colonne de direction pourrait commencer à produire des cliquetis. Si le problème n'était pas réglé, les dispositifs de fixation pourraient sortir complètement. Cela pourrait causer un déplacement visible de la colonne de direction, ce qui pourrait nuire à la capacité de diriger le véhicule, causer un accident, endommager des biens matériels, blesser quelqu'un ou entraîner des pertes de vies. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront inspecter la colonne de direction et serrer les dispositifs de fixation conformément aux spécifications.
