The issue
On certain vehicles, the accelerator pedal throttle position sensor could fail. A faulty throttle position sensor will return the engine to idle. In certain cases, an abrupt return to idle could result in the engine stalling, causing a loss of motive power which, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the driver's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash causing damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the accelerator pedal throttle position sensor and reprogram the engine control module.

Sur certains vehicules, le capteur de position du papillon des gaz pourrait faire defaut. Un papillon des gaz defectueux remettrait le moteur au ralenti. Dans certains cas, un retour brusque au ralenti pourrait faire caler le moteur, ce qui causerait une perte de puissance qui, en conjonction avec la densite de la circulation, l'etat de la route et les reactions du conducteur, pourrait augmenter les risques d'accident endommageant des biens materiels ou blessant quelqu'un. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront remplacer le capteur de position du papillon des gaz et reprogrammer le module de commande du moteur.
