The issue

On certain vehicles, the tie rod threaded attachment to the steering gear rack may not have been tightened to specification. This could allow the tie rod to loosen and separate from the steering rack, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect the inner tie rods for correct torque and replace the steering gear if necessary.

Sur certains véhicules, le dispositif fileté fixant la biellette à la crémaillère pourrait ne pas avoir été serré conformément aux spécifications. Cela pourrait permettre à la biellette de se desserrer et de se détacher de la crémaillère, ce qui augmenterait les risques d'un accident blessant quelqu'un ou endommageant des biens matériels. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront inspecter les bielles intérieures pour vérifier le couple de serrage; ils devront aussi remplacer le matériel de direction si nécessaire.
