The issue

On certain vehicles equipped with a trunk-mounted sub-woofer, cargo in the trunk could contact the sub-woofer's soft braided wire, which could cause the wire to move out of its normal position. If one of these wires were to come into contact with the metal frame of the sub-woofer, it could result in an intermittent short, causing the integrated circuit (IC) in the audio amplifier to become damaged. In some cases, the damaged IC could create a closed circuit between the power supply and sub-woofer, and electric current could continue to flow to the sub-woofer. If this were to occur, the sub-woofer could overheat, increasing the risk of fire, causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the audio system amplifier and install a protective cover around the subwoofer. In the interim, dealers will disconnect the rear sub-woofer.

Sur certains véhicules munis d'un caisson de basse placé dans le coffre, la cargaison qui se trouve dans le coffre pourrait toucher au fil tressé malléable du caisson, ce qui pourrait faire en sorte que le fil sorte de sa position normale. Si le fil entrait en contact avec le châssis de métal du caisson, cela pourrait causer un court­circuit intermittent, ce qui ferait en sorte que le circuit intégré (CI) dans l'amplificateur audio s'endommagerait. Dans certains cas, le CI endommagé pourrait créer un circuit fermé entre l'alimentation électrique et le caisson; de plus, le courant électrique pourrait continuer à se rendre au caisson. Si cela se produisait, le caisson pourrait surchauffer, ce qui augmenterait le risque d'un incendie blessant quelqu'un ou endommageant des biens matériels. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront remplacer l'amplificateur audio, ainsi qu'installer un couvercle de protection autour du caisson de basse. D'ici à ce qu'une mesure correctrice n'ait été établie, les concessionnaires devront débrancher le caisson de basse arrière.
