The issue

On certain motorhomes, a Propane (“LP”) gas tank regulator designed for vertical use may have been inadvertently installed instead of the specified horizontal-style regulator. The incorrect regulator has a vent located parallel with the regulator’s inlet and outlet. When installed, the vent opening faces horizontally, potentially allowing moisture to accumulate inside the regulator. Under certain temperature conditions this moisture could freeze which may result in improper operation of the regulator. If the regulator fails to operate properly, excessive pressure may build up inside of it, potentially resulting in a propane gas leak, which in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will inspect the propane gas tank regulator, and replace it if necessary.

Sur certaines autocaravanes, un régulateur de réservoir de gaz propane (LP) conçu pour une utilisation verticale pourrait avoir été installé par erreur au lieu du régulateur de style horizontal spécifié. Le régulateur incorrect comporte un évent parallèle aux orifices d'entrée et de sortie du régulateur. Lorsque le régulateur est installé, l'ouverture de l'évent est orientée à l'horizontale, ce qui pourrait permettre l'accumulation d'humidité à l'intérieur du régulateur. À certaines températures, cette humidité pourrait geler, ce qui pourrait entraîner un fonctionnement incorrect du régulateur. Si ce dernier ne fonctionne pas comme prévu, une pression excessive pourrait s'accumuler dans celui-ci, ce qui pourrait entraîner une fuite de gaz propane. En présence d'une source d'inflammation, une telle fuite pourrait déclencher un feu pouvant entraîner des blessures ou des dommages matériels (ou les deux). Correction : Les concessionnaires devront inspecter le régulateur du réservoir de gaz propane et, au besoin, le remplacer.
