The issue

Certain trailers may not comply with the requirements of Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 223 - Rear Impact Guards. On certain tandem and tri-axle 53 foot van trailers equipped with pintle hooks, the rear impact guard may not meet the minimum load requirement of the standard. This could increase the risk of injury in the event of a rear impact crash. Correction: Dealers will install replacement rear impact guard gussets for affected units. Note: This is an expansion of recall 2013461.

Certaines remorques de 53 pi à crochet d’attelage et à deux ou trois essieux pourraient ne pas être conformes à la norme 223 (dispositifs de protection arrière) du Règlement sur la sécurité des véhicules automobiles. Leur dispositif de protection arrière pourrait ne pas présenter la capacité de charge minimale obligatoire, ce qui pourrait accroître les risques de blessures en cas d’impact arrière. Correction : les détaillants doivent installer des goussets de remplacement. Remarque : le présent rappel s’ajoute au rappel 2013461.
