The issue

Certain trailers may fail to conform to Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (CMVSS) 223 – Rear impact guard. The rear impact guard was constructed with the incorrect grade of aluminum. This could cause the rear guard to fail prematurely in the event of a rear end collision, which would increase the risk of injury to the occupants of the vehicle following the trailer. Correction: Dealers will replace the rear impact guards with new compliant guards.

Certaines remorques pourraient ne pas être conformes aux exigences de la Norme de sécurité des véhicules automobiles du Canada (NSVAC) 223 - Dispositifs de protection arrière. Les dispositifs de protection arrière pourraient avoir été fabriqués en utilisant la mauvaise nuance d'aluminium, ce qui pourrait faire en sorte qu'ils se brisent prématurément en cas de collision par l'arrière, augmentant ainsi les risques de blessures. Mesure corrective : Les concessionnaires devront remplacer les dispositifs de protection arrière par de nouveaux dispositifs conformes.
