The issue

On certain vehicles, a plastic insulator (called a wheel guard made by FleetSpec) was installed between the wheel hub and the wheel or the brake drum and the wheel to prevent corrosion between the two components. These wheel guards may melt due to the high heat generated by the brakes. If this occurs, a wheel could become loose and fall off the vehicle, creating a potential road hazard and increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: owners will have to replace or remove the FleetSpec wheel guards. Note: To find out if your vehicle is part of this recall please visit: ftp://ftppublic.simardsuspensions.com/

Sur certains véhicules, un isolant en plastique (appelé un « wheel guard » fabriqué par FleetSpec) a été installé entre la roue et le tambour de frein ou le moyeu de roue et la roue pour empêcher la corrosion entre les deux composants. Ces « wheel guards » peuvent fondre en raison de la chaleur élevée générée par les freins. Si cela se produit, une roue pourrait se détacher et tomber du véhicule, créant un danger potentiel sur la route et augmentant le risque d'un accident causant des blessures et / ou des dommages matériels. Correction: Les propriétaires devront remplacer ou enlever les « wheel guards » FleetSpec.
