The issue

Issue: On certain vehicles, the rear driveshaft joint may have been built without grease. As a result, the joint could fail and cause the driveshaft to detach from the vehicle. If the vehicle was in rear-wheel drive mode, this would cause a loss of power to the drive wheels. Safety Risk: A loss of power to the drive wheels could increase the risk of a crash. Additionally, a driveshaft that separates from the vehicle could create a hazard for other drivers and nearby people. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a dealer to inspect the rear driveshaft constant-velocity joint and replace the driveshaft if required.

Problème : Dans certains véhicules, le joint d'arbre de transmission arrière pourrait avoir été fabriqué sans graisse. Par conséquent, le joint pourrait présenter une défaillance et l'arbre de transmission pourrait alors se séparer du véhicule. Si le véhicule était en mode de propulsion arrière, cela causerait une perte de puissance au niveau des roues d'entraînement. Risque pour la sécurité : Une perte de puissance au niveau des roues arrière pourrait augmenter les risques d'accident. De plus, un arbre de transmission qui se sépare du véhicule pourrait créer un danger pour les autres conducteurs et les personnes à proximité. Mesure corrective : L'entreprise avisera les propriétaires par la poste. Les propriétaires touchés devront amener leur véhicule chez un concessionnaire pour faire inspecter le joint homocinétique de l'arbre de transmission arrière, ainsi que faire remplacer l'arbre de transmission au besoin.
