Recalls
Pierce is recalling certain model year 2006-2008 Contender fire trucks manufactured from December 26, 2006, through March 28, 2008, equipped with a Caterpillar C9 engine due to an engine software problem which can cause the engine's RPM's to surge while in pump mode.
PIERCE IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2003 THROUGH 2009 CUSTOM CONTENDER, DASH, ENFORCER, IMPEL, LANCE SABER, AND VELOCITY FIRE TRUCKS MANUFACTURED FROM FEBRUARY 20, 2003, THROUGH MARCH 27, 2009. THESE TRUCKS MAY BE EQUIPPED WITH DROP-DOWN FIRE HOSE TRAYS MOUNTED UNDER THE FRONT BUMPER. THE HOSE TRAY LATCH MAY ACCIDENTALLY OPEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION.
Whether a recall was fixed on a particular car is known only to the manufacturer: check the VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.

Service bulletins
What Pierce told its dealers about the 2007 Pierce Custom Contender: known faults, fixes and updates.
| Bulletin | Summary |
|---|---|
| 11011818 | This bulletin is to support the dealer network when replacing a ASL 360 ECU that requires programming on the truck. |
| 11011817 | Software update for fault codes on Command Zone display: This software update may help remove ambiguity between active and inactive engine error codes shown on the Command Zone display. |
| 11010453 | Alternators with a voltage sense terminal must have a voltage sense wire installed between the sense terminal of the alternator and a positive stud of a battery in the main battery bank. The voltage sense wire provides a more accurate voltage measurement to the voltage regulator, resulting in better electrical performance. |
| 11010452 | Historically, the main battery cable for the mechanical siren was attached to the cab power distribution area. The large draw of electrical current from the mechanical siren activation, would starve other electronics in the cab. Sometime causing HVAC systems, radios and other electronics to shut down. Rerouting the main battery cable to either battery box, provides an independent voltage source for the siren, causing less electrical impact to cab area components. |
| 11010451 | Pierce apparatus equipped with Command Zone multiplexing uses the cab power distribution area for determining the vehicle system voltage. However, because of voltage drop between the batteries and the cab distribution area, this is not a true representation of actual system voltage. To improve the accuracy of the Command Zone voltage gauge, a 10/2 harness will be run from the right-side battery box to Output module #1 (or Input Module #1 if Output module is not present on apparatus). This will provide a more accurate voltage input to the module responsible for populating the voltage gauge valu |
| 11008386 | All Roto Rays are warranted to the purchaser for twenty-four months from the date of service against defects in material or workmanship. During the warranty period products found to be defective will be repaired or replaced (at Roto Rays option) without charge. The defective light must be returned to Roto Rays, INC., 722 Park Ave., Herndon, VA 20170. The light will be returned to the purchaser prepaid. |
| 11008384 | This bulletin will provide torque ratings for constant torque clamps that are used to secure coolant hoses on Pierce Custom Chassis vehicles. See table below for details. |
| 11008383 | This bulletin will outline and standardize a procedure for gathering HVAC system information for under-performing HVAC units. Please fill out information and perform the following tasks that are included in the checklist below, prior to submitting a technical support incident on Pierceparts.com. |
| 11006633 | The purpose of this bulletin is to reduce labor hours by standardizing the location(s) of the unused legs of the SRP harness that contain resistors. This will help technicians in the field perform diagnostics without removing unnecessary panels while searching for these resistors. |
| 10247185 | As a product improvement, Pierce will be changing coolant probes from a contact probe to a capacitive sensor. |
| 10210778 | The GEN 1 Husky 3 foam pump from FSC is being discontinued. To keep supporting our customers, a conversion kit is available to install the GEN 2 Husky 3 foam pump in place of the GEN 1. |
