The issue

On certain vehicles with stand up right hand drive conversion, the cross shaft connecting the right hand steering column to the left hand steering column is equipped with a mitre box and u-joint at each side of the shaft with keyways at each connection. These keys can work loose and fall out, resulting in a loss of steering on the right hand side without prior warning to the driver. Correction: Dealers will replace the cross shaft assembly.

Sur certains véhicules adaptés pour la conduite à droite, en position debout, l ’arbre transversal qui raccorde la colonne de direction droite à la colonne de direction gauche est muni à chaque extrémité d’une boîte à onglets, d’un joint universel et d’une rainure à clavette dans l’articulation. Ces clavettes peuvent prendre du jeu et se détacher, entraînant une perte de contrôle subite de la direction du côté droit. Correction : Les concessionaires devront remplacer l'arbre transversal.
