The issue
On certain vehicles, the lower end of the upper steering spindle may not have been inserted completely into the aluminum u-joint assembly (coupling). In such a case, the fastening bolt used to secure the connection may not completely engage the spindle within the coupling. This would make it possible for the spindle to disconnect from the coupling, resulting in loss of steering capability and a possible crash. Correction: Spindle will be inspected for proper insertion into the coupling. If necessary, the spindle will be fully inserted and the fastening bolt replaced.

Sur certains véhicules, il se peut que, lors du montage, l'extrémité inférieure de la fusée de direction supérieure n'ait pas été insérée à fond dans le joint universel en aluminium. Si c'est le cas, le boulon servant à assujettir la connexion n'engagera pas complètement la fusée à l'intérieur de l'accouplement et la fusée pourra alors se désolidariser de l'accouplement, entraînant une perte de maîtrise de la direction qui peut causer un accident. Correction : La fusée sera inspectée pour voir si elle est bien insérée dans l'accouplement. Le cas échéant, on devra remonter correctement la fusée et remplacer le boulon.
