The issue

Certain heavy duty class 8 trucks. The lower steering shaft may side-load the steering gear input shaft. This condition could result in non-uniform steering wheel efforts when turning the steering wheel. In addition, once the steering wheel turn is initiated, the vehicle may continue turning without returning to the straight ahead position with driver effort. This condition can result in a loss of steering, increasing the risk of a crash. Correction: Dealers will replace the lower steering shaft.

Vise certains camions lourds de classe 8. La partie inférieure de l'arbre de direction peut exercer une poussée latérale sur l'arbre d'entrée du boîtier de direction, ce qui pourrait exiger du conducteur un effort inégal quand il actionne le volant. Il se peut aussi qu'une fois un virage entamé le volant ne revienne pas à la position tout droit sans effort supplémentaire du conducteur, ce qui augmente les risques de perte de contrôle et d'accident. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront remplacer la partie inférieure de l'arbre de direction.
