The issue

On certain vehicles, the intermediate steering shaft bolt may not be torqued to the proper specification. An under-torqued bolt could loose, resulting in a separation of the upper and lower steering shafts and loss of vehicle control. If this happens while the vehicle is moving, a crash could result without prior warning. Correction: Dealers will torque the intermediate steering shaft bolt to the proper specifications.

Sur certains véhicules, le boulon de l'arbre de direction intermédiaire peut ne pas avoir été serré au couple prescrit. Un boulon mal serré peut se desserrer et entraîner la séparation de l'arbre de direction supérieur de l'arbre de direction inférieur, ce qui provoquera une perte de maîtrise de la direction. Si cela se produit alors que le véhicule est en marche, un accident imprévisible peut s'ensuivre. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront serrer le boulon de l'arbre intermédiaire au couple prescrit.
