The issue

On certain vehicles, the foam material used for the interior lining of the Engine Control Module (ECM) box out-gasses sulphur as it cures. If one of the resistors inside the ECM has a crack on the surface coating, the gas may cause corrosion of the resistor. This could cause the Malfunction Indicator Light to come on, poor drivability (idle instability, poor acceleration), or the engine to stop running without warning during vehicle operation. Correction: Dealer will remove the inside lining material from the ECM box.

Sur certains véhicules, la mousse utilisée pour le revêtement intérieur de la boîte du module de gestion du moteur dégage du soufre en vieillissant. Si une des résistances se trouvant à l'intérieur du module est fissurée en surface, le gaz pourrait causer la corrosion de la résistance. Cela pourrait causer les problèmes suivants : allumage du voyant de mauvais fonctionnement, difficultés de conduite ( instabilité du ralenti, faibles accélérations), calage du moteur sans avertissement pendant que le véhicule est en marche. Correction : Le concessionnaire devra retirer le matériel de recouvrement intérieur de la boîte du module de gestion du moteur.
