The issue
Certain DaimlerChrysler SLF (super low floor) transit buses do not comply with the requirements of CMVSS 217. The striker plate at the bottom of the Hehr emergency pushout windows can wear a groove into the emergency release bolt. If this groove becomes deep enough, the emergency pushout window may fail to open as intended when released, thus potentially trapping passengers or at least delaying their escape. Correction: Hehr International will notify owners of the non-compliance and will provide a remedy on behalf of DaimlerChrysler Commercial Buses North America.

Certains autocars DaimlerChrysler à plancher très bas ne satisfont pas aux exigences de la NSVAC 217. La gâche située au bas des fenêtres Hehr pouvant être poussées vers l'extérieur en cas d'urgence pourrait creuser un sillon dans le dispositif d'ouverture d'urgence. Si le sillon devenait assez profond, la fenêtre pourrait ne pas s'ouvrir comme prévu, ce qui pourrait empêcher les passagers de s'échapper ou, au moins, retarder leur sortie. Correction : Hehr International devra avertir les propriétaires du problème de non conformité et fournir une solution au nom de DaimlerChrysler Commercial Buses North America.
