The issue
On certain vehicles, the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler inlet pipes and/or the pipes that connect the EGR valves to the cooler may fail (crack or break). If the pipes or the cooler inlet pipes fail and are left untreated, the air cleaner and inner fender may be subject to hot exhaust gases, which could potentially lead to a fire. Correction: Dealers will inspect the EGR cooler pipes and install a heat shield.

Sur certains véhicules, les tuyaux d'entrée du refroidisseur de recirculation des gaz d'échappement (RGE) ou les tuyaux qui raccordent les soupapes RGE au refroidisseur pourraient faire défaut (se fissurer ou se briser). Si ces derniers ou les tuyaux d'entrée du refroidisseur faisaient défaut et n'étaient pas réparés, le filtre à air et l'aile interne pourraient être exposés à des gaz d'échappement chauds, ce qui pourrait causer un incendie. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront inspecter les tuyaux du refroidisseur de RGE et installer un bouclier thermique.
