The issue
Certain school buses fail to comply with the requirements of CMVSS 301 - Fuel System Integrity. The affected buses were produced with an 8-inch rear bumper rather than a 10-inch bumper. In the event of a crash, the bumper may not provide adequate protection to fuel system components. This could result in a post-crash fuel leak which, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire. Correction: Dealers will replace the rear bumper.

Certains autobus scolaires ne satisfont pas aux exigences de la NSVAC 301 - Étanchéité du circuit d'alimentation en carburant. Les autobus visés ont été dotés d'un pare chocs arrière de 8 po au lieu d'un pare chocs de 10 po. En cas d'accident, le pare chocs pourrait ne pas fournir une protection adéquate au circuit d'alimentation en carburant. Cela pourrait causer une fuite de carburant après accident qui, en présence d'une source d'inflammation, pourrait causer un incendie. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront remplacer le pare chocs arrière.
