The issue
On certain motorcycles, the battery hold-down bolt may loosen under normal riding conditions. Should this occur, the battery may be able to move out of position allowing the terminals to contact the metal battery caddy cover and abrade through the positive terminal protective boot. As a result, the battery could short, causing sparks and a fire, which could cause a crash leading to injury or death to the rider. Correction: Dealers will replace the center battery caddy bolt with an updated bolt that has a locking patch on the threads.

Sur certaines motocyclettes, le boulon de maintien de la batterie pourrait se desserrer dans des conditions d'utilisation normales. Si cela se produisait, la batterie pourrait se déplacer, ce qui permettrait aux bornes de toucher au couvercle de support de batterie métallique et de couper le capuchon protecteur de la borne positive. En conséquence, la batterie pourrait court circuiter, ce qui engendrerait des étincelles et un incendie; cela pourrait causer un accident et blesser ou tuer le pilote. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront remplacer le boulon du support de batterie central par un boulon de conception nouvelle qui dispose d'un produit de verrouillage sur ses filets.
