The issue

On certain trucks, the rear drive axle housing was manufactured with steel below the specified thickness, which could result in fatigue failure over time. If failure occurs, the outboard end of the housing could eventually separate, allowing the hub, axle shaft, and/or wheel and brake assembly to separate from the vehicle. This could cause a vehicle crash with injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if required, replace the axle assembly.

Sur certains camions, le carter de l'essieu moteur arrière a été fabriqué avec de l'acier dont l'épaisseur est inférieure aux spécifications, ce qui pourrait finir par causer une défaillance de fatigue. Si une défaillance se produisait, l'extrémité extérieure du carter pourrait finir par se détacher, ce qui permettrait au moyeu, à l'arbre d'essieu ou à l'ensemble roue et frein de se détacher du véhicule. Cela pourrait causer un accident et blesser quelqu'un ou engendrer des pertes de vie. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront inspecter et, le cas échéant, remplacer l'essieu.
