The issue

Certain motorcycles may have been assembled using an incorrect retaining clip in the rear wheel assembly. This circlip can rub against the spacer bushing, causing metal shavings to penetrate the wheel bearing. Should the wheel bearing fail, it could cause the rear wheel to suddenly lock-up. This, in conjunction with traffic and road conditions, and the rider's reactions, could increase the risk of a crash, causing personal injury or death. Correction: Dealers will inspect the retaining circlip. If the wrong circlip was installed, the spacing bushing, both wheel bearings, the circlip and both shaft sealing rings will be replaced.

Certaines motocyclettes pourraient avoir été dotées d'un dispositif de retenue incorrect dans la roue arrière. Ce dispositif pourrait frotter contre la bague d'espacement, ce qui ferait en sorte que les rognures de métal pénétrent le roulement de moyeu. Si le roulement de moyeu faisait défaut, il se pourrait que la roue arrière se bloque soudainement. Cela, conjointement à l'état de la circulation et de la route, et aux réactions du conducteur, pourrait augmenter les risques d'accident avec blessures ou pertes de vie. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront inspecter le dispositif de retenue. Si le mauvais dispositif était posé, la bague d'espacement, les roulements de moyeu, le dispositif et les deux anneaux de scellement d'arbre devraient être remplacés.
