The issue

On certain vehicles, the castle nut that retains the steering drag link to the pitman arm may have been improperly torqued during assembly. The improper torque may have damaged the castle nut and compromised the integrity of the connection. If the drag link separated from the pitman arm, the driver would loose directional control of the vehicle which could result in a vehicle crash causing injury or death. Correction: Dealers will replace and properly torque the castle nuts on all suspect vehicles.

Sur certains véhicules, l'écrou à créneaux dégagés qui retient la barre de connexion de la direction sur la bielle pendante pourrait avoir été mal serré lors du montage. Le couple de serrage inadéquat pourrait avoir endommagé l'écrou à créneaux dégagés et compromis l'intégrité du raccord. Si la barre d'accouplement se détachait de la bielle pendante, le conducteur perdrait le contrôle du véhicule, ce qui pourrait causer un accident, blesser quelqu'un ou entraîner des pertes de vie. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront remplacer et serrer adéquatement les écrous à créneaux dégagés de tous les véhicules pouvant être visés.
