The issue

On certain four-wheel drive vehicles, the joint portion of the front driveshaft may contain small cracks. These cracks may eventually lead to a failure, resulting in separation of the front driveshaft. If the driveshaft failed while the vehicle was moving, a loud noise would be heard. If the vehicle were in 2WD mode, the driveshaft would come to rest on the frame cross-member, and the vehicle could be operated normally. The driveshaft would not come in contact with brake, steering or fuel system components, therefore the risk of a crash is considered minimal. Correction: Dealers will inspect the vehicle and replace the front driveshaft if necessary.

Sur certains véhicules à quatre roues motrices, le joint de l'arbre de transmission avant pourrait comporter de petites fissures. Cecs fissures pourraient finir par causer une défaillance, ce qui entraînerait le détachement de l'arbre de transmission avant. Si l'arbre de transmission faisait défaut pendant que le véhicule est en mouvement, on entendrait un fort bruit. Si le véhicule était en mode 2 roues motrices, l'arbre de transmission irait se poser sur la traverse de cadre de châssis, et le véhicule pourrait être utilisé normalement. L'arbre de transmission n'entrerait pas en contact avec des pièces du système de freinage, du système de direction ou du système d'alimentation en carburant; donc, on considère que les risques d'accident sont minimes. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront inspecter le véhicule et remplacer l'arbre de transmission avant au besoin.
