The issue

On certain vehicles the interlock lever of the ignition switch may wear prematurely, which can allow the interlock function to be defeated if the driver does not follow the typical shut-down procedure of shifting the gear selector to the PARK position before rotating the ignition key to the OFF position. Removal of the ignition key when the gear selector of a vehicle with an automatic transmission has not been shifted to the PARK position can allow the vehicle to roll away, increasing the risk of a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will replace the original interlock pin and lever within the ignition switch with updated versions.

Sur certains véhicules et dans certaines conditions, le levier de verrouillage de l'interrupteur d'allumage pourrait s'user prématurément, ce qui pourrait empêcher le verrouillage si le conducteur ne suivait pas la procédure d'arrêt habituelle consistant à mettre le levier de vitesses en position PARK avant de mettre la clé de contact en position OFF. Le fait de retirer la clé de contact lorsque le levier de vitesse d'un véhicule à boîte de vitesses automatique n'a pas été mis en position PARK pourrait permettre au véhicule de se mettre en mouvement, ce qui augmente les risques d'accident. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront remplacer le levier et le bonhomme d’arrêt de départ se trouvant dans l’interrupteur d’allumage par des pièces d’une version à jour.
