The issue

On certain vehicles, the rear axle cross pin was improperly heat treated (during the manufacturing process) and could fracture and become displaced within the rear differential. As a result the driver may hear a banging noise emanating from the rear axle. Also, if the pin shifts out of position it could create an interference and cause the rear axle to lock. This could cause a loss of vehicle control, which could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the rear axle cross pin.

Sur certains véhicules, la contre-goupille d'essieu arrière a subi un traitement thermique inadéquat (pendant la fabrication), et pourrait se briser et se déplacer à l'intérieur du différentiel arrière. En conséquence, le conducteur pourrait entendre un cognement provenant de l'essieu arrière. De plus, si la contre-goupille bougeait, cela pourrait créer une interférence et faire en sorte que l'essieu arrière se bloque. Cela pourrait causer une perte de contrôle du véhicule qui pourrait causer un accident, endommager des biens matériels ou blesser quelqu'un. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront remplacer la contre-goupille d'essieu arrière.
