Recall 2011007

The issue

Certain semi-trailers were equipped with a Michel's Industries Select or Maximizer Sideroll tarp system which may contain defective Universal Joints. The U-Joint cross pin may not be a tight fit and, as such, could become loose and fall out, which would cause the tarp to be improperly secured. An improperly secured tarp can fall from the trailer and strike another vehicle, stationary object, or bystander, causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Michel's Industries will contact owners and supply them with U-Joint inspection procedures. If the U-joint is found to be the potentially defective type, owners will be provided with updated replacement parts.

Certaines semi-remorques ont été munies d'une bâche Sideroll Select ou Maximizer de marque Michel's Industries qui pourrait comporter des joints universels défectueux. La contre-goupille de joint universel pourrait ne pas être bien serrée et, par conséquent, pourrait se desserrer et tomber, ce qui ferait en sorte que la bâche soit fixée de façon inadéquate. Une bâche fixée de façon inadéquate pourrait tomber de la remorque et aller percuter un autre véhicule, un objet stationnaire ou une personne se trouvant à proximité, ce qui peut endommager des biens matériels ou blesser quelqu'un. Correction : Michel's Industries devra contacter les propriétaires et leur fournir des procédures d'inspection de joint universel. Si le joint universel s'avère potentiellement défectueux, on devra donner aux propriétaires des pièces de rechange à jour.
