The issue

On certain vehicles, the interior housing embossment retaining the interior door handle spring may fracture during normal usage, resulting in insufficient spring force to return the handle to the fully stowed position. The door latch will remain fully engaged, however, the handle may be loose, causing a rattle or noise, and the handle may not return to the fully closed position. Depending on spring load force and handle position, the inertial loads experienced by the interior door handle may cause the door latch to open during a side impact crash. If this were to occur and the door opened during a crash, an occupant not wearing a seatbelt could be ejected from the vehicle, increasing the risk of personal injuries. Correction: Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, either add a spring embossment reinforcement or replace the interior door handle assembly.

Sur certains véhicules, le bossage qui retient le ressort de la poignée de porte intérieure pourrait se briser lors d'une utilisation normale, ce qui ferait en sorte que la force du ressort serait insuffisante pour rentrer la poignée complètement. Le loquet de la porte demeurera entièrement enclenché; cependant, la poignée pourrait être lâche, ce qui produirait un cliquetis ou un bruit, et la poignée pourrait ne pas retourner en position entièrement fermée. Selon la tension du ressort et la position de la poignée, les charges inertielles subies par la poignée de porte intérieure pourraient faire en sorte que le loquet de porte s'ouvre lors d'un impact latéral. Si cela se produisait et que la porte s'ouvrait lors d'un accident, un occupant qui ne porterait pas sa ceinture de sécurité pourrait être éjecté du véhicule, ce qui augmenterait les risques de blessures. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront inspecter et, le cas échéant, ajouter un renfort de bossage de ressort ou remplacer la poignée de porte intérieure.
