The issue

On certain trucks, the driveshaft attachment bolts may not have received adequate tightening torque during vehicle assembly. Should the fasteners loosen and fall out, a driveshaft could detach from the vehicle. This would result in a loss of vehicle propulsion which, in conjunction with traffic and road condition, and the driver’s reactions, could increase the risk of a crash. Also, a driveshaft separating from the vehicle could strike another vehicle, a stationary object, or a bystander. These issues could result in property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will tighten the U-joint fasteners of both driveshafts to the prescribed torque.

Sur certains camions, les boulons de fixation des arbres de transmission pourraient ne pas avoir été adéquatement serrés lors du montage du véhicule. Si les dispositifs de fixation se desserraient et tombaient, un arbre de transmission pourrait se détacher du véhicule. Cela entraînerait une perte de propulsion du véhicule qui, en conjoinction avec la densité de la circulation, l'état de la route et les réactions du conducteur, pourrait augmenter les risques d'accident. De plus, un arbre de transmission qui se détacherait du véhicule pourrait percuter un autre véhicule, un objet stationnaire ou une personne se trouvant à proximité. Cela pourrait endommager des biens matériels ou blesser quelqu'un. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront serrer les dispositifs de fixation du joint universel des deux arbres de transmission au couple de serrage prescrit.
