The issue

On certain vehicles equipped with a 1.6L engine, the cylinder head cup plug (freeze plug) may become dislodged, resulting in a significant loss of coolant which could cause the engine to overheat. Under certain circumstances, water in the remaining coolant mixture may vaporize, resulting in a higher concentration of glycol (antifreeze). A high concentration of glycol could become flammable and, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect the cylinder head. If the cup plug is dislodged or leaking, the cylinder head assembly will be replaced. If the cup plug is not dislodged or leaking, a wicking sealant will be applied to the plug and a cover plate will be installed over the plug with adhesive.

Sur certains véhicules munis d'un moteur de 1,6 L, un bouchon expansible de culasse pourrait se déloger, ce qui causerait une perte de liquide de refroidissement qui pourrait faire surchauffer le moteur. Dans certaines circonstances, l'eau dans le liquide de refroidissement restant pourrait s'évaporer, ce qui augmenterait la concentration de glycol (antigel). Une concentration élevée de glycol pourrait, en présence d'une source d'inflammation, faire en sorte que le liquide s'enflamme, ce qui endommagerait des biens matériels ou blesserait quelqu'un. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront inspecter la culasse. Si le bouchon expansible était délogé ou fuyait, la culasse devrait être remplacée. Dans le cas contraire, un scellant absorbant devrait être appliqué sur le bouchon, et une plaque de recouvrement devrait être posée sur le bouchon avec de l'adhésif.
