The issue

On certain vehicles, the engine calibration for the “limp home” mode was inadvertently set too high at 1750 rpm instead of 1200 rpm. Should the “limp home” mode be activated, the increased idle speed may cause sudden and unexpected acceleration, which could result in very high vehicle speeds and make it difficult to slow or stop the vehicle if the transmission is not shifted into neutral. This could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will install updated engine calibration software.

Dans certains véhicules, l'étalonnage du moteur pour le mode « limp home » (rentrer à pas de tortue) a été réglé trop haut, par inadvertence, à 1 750 tr/min au lieu de 1 200 tr/min. Si le mode « limp home » était activé, l’augmentation de vitesse de ralenti pourrait causer une accélération soudaine et inattendue, ce qui pourrait entraîner de très hautes vitesses du véhicule et faire qu'il soit difficile de ralentir ou d'arrêter le véhicule si le levier de boîte de vitesses n'est pas placé au point mort. Cela pourrait causer un accident, endommager des biens matériels ou blesser quelqu'un. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront installer un logiciel d’étalonnage de moteur à jour.
