The issue

On certain vehicles, the tunnel heat shield may drop down and rub on the drive shaft, which could eventually result in the drive shaft breaking and loss of motive power. In conjunction with traffic and road conditions and driver reactions, this could increase the risk of a crash. A broken drive shaft could also impact the tunnel with sufficient force to cause airbag deployment. Unintended airbag deployment, in a non-warranted (non-impact) situation could startle the driver which could result in a vehicle crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. In some instances, inadvertent deployment could cause minor injuries to vehicle occupants. Correction: Dealers will install a heat shield support bracket.

Dans certains véhicules, le protecteur thermique à tunnel pourrait tomber et frotter contre l'arbre d'entraînement, ce qui pourrait causer le bris de l'arbre d'entraînement et la perte de puissance motrice. En conjonction avec la densité de la circulation, l'état de la route et les réactions du conducteur, cette situation pourrait augmenter les risques d'accident. Un arbre d'entraînement brisé pourrait frapper le tunnel avec suffisamment de force pour déclencher le déploiement des coussins gonflables. Le déploiement inopiné des coussins gonflables, dans une situation non justifiée (sans impact), pourrait surprendre le conducteur et causer un accident, endommager des biens matériels ou blesser quelqu'un. Dans certains cas, un déploiement accidentel pourrait blesser légèrement les occupants du véhicule. Correction : Les concessionnaires devront poser un support pour le protecteur thermique.
