The issue

On certain vehicles, a defect in the ignition switch could allow the switch to move out of the "run" position if the key ring is carrying added weight or the vehicle goes off-road or is subjected to some other jarring event. If this were to occur, engine power, power steering and power braking would be affected, increasing the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. The timing of the key movement out of the “run” position, relative to the activation of the sensing algorithm of the crash event, may also result in the airbags not deploying in a subsequent collision, increasing the risk of injury. Correction: For each key, dealers will install two key rings and modify the key ring opening shape. Note: Until the correction is performed, all items should be removed from the key ring.

Sur certains véhicules, une défectuosité dans l'interrupteur d'allumage pourrait permettre à l'interrupteur de quitter la position RUN si l'anneau de la clé supportait un poids supplémentaire ou si le véhicule circulait hors­route ou s'il était soumis à d'autres vibrations. Si cela se produisait, la puissance du moteur, la direction assistée et les freins assistés seraient touchés, ce qui augmenterait les risques d'un accident blessant quelqu'un ou endommageant des biens matériels. Le moment du retrait de la clé de la position RUN, par rapport à l'activation de l'algorithme de détection de l'accident, pourrait aussi faire en sorte que les coussins gonflables ne se déploient pas lors d'une collision subséquente, ce qui augmenterait les risques de blessures. Correction : Pour chaque clé, les concessionnaires devront installer deux anneaux de clés et modifier les dimensions de l'ouverture dans la clé. Remarque : Jusqu'à ce que la correction ait été apportée, tous les articles devront être retirés de l'anneau de la clé.
