The issue

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Canada is conducting a voluntary Customer Satisfaction Notification Program involving certain vehicles equipped with automatic transmissions. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) will update the Powertrain Control Module software to improve activation timing of the backup lamps. This updated software will turn the backup lamps on earlier, indicating to other road users that the driver has selected reverse gear. This action is not being conducted under the requirements of the Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) Canada procède à un programme d'avis de satisfaction des consommateurs volontaire impliquant certains véhicules munis d'une boîte de vitesses automatique. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) mettra à jour le logiciel du module de commande du groupe motopropulseur afin d'améliorer le délai d'activation des feux de recul. Ce logiciel mis à jour allumera les feux de recul plus rapidement, ce qui indiquera aux autres usagers de la route que le conducteur a sélectionné le rapport de marche arrière. Cette mesure n'est pas exigée par la Loi sur la sécurité automobile.
