The issue

Certain vehicles may have been equipped with an underbody sensor containing an improperly assembled seal which could allow water to penetrate and corrode the electrical terminals. This could lead to an electrical short causing the Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL) to illuminate in the vehicle and cause the circuit to overheat, increasing the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will inspect and if necessary replace the affected connector.

Certains véhicules pourraient avoir été munis d'un capteur sous le châssis qui contiendrait un joint étanche à l'eau mal assemblé qui pourrait permettre à l'eau de s'infiltrer et de corroder les bornes électriques. Ce problème pourrait provoquer un court-circuit qui causerait l'allumage du voyant d'anomalie et une surchauffe du circuit, ce qui augmenterait les risques de déclenchement d'un feu pouvant entraîner des blessures ou des dommages matériels (ou les deux). Correction : Les concessionnaires devront inspecter le véhicule, ainsi que remplacer le connecteur touché au besoin.
