The issue

On certain vehicles, water may drain from the windshield cowl area onto the front wiper link ball joint. Over time, this could result in corrosion and/or wear to the joint, which could result in the separation of the wiper link ball. If separation were to occur, the windshield wipers could become inoperative, which could limit the driver’s visibility under certain operating conditions which may increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Dealers will replace the rubber boot which covers the ball joint with a countermeasure one, and the wiper motor crank arm will also be inspected and replaced as necessary.

Dans certains véhicules, de l'eau pourrait s'écouler de l'auvent du pare-brise jusque sur le joint à rotule de la timonerie d'essuie-glaces avant. Au fil du temps, ce problème pourrait corroder ou user (ou les deux) le joint, ce qui pourrait causer le détachement du joint à rotule. Par conséquent, les essuie-glaces pourraient cesser de fonctionner, ce qui pourrait limiter la visibilité du conducteur dans certaines conditions d'exploitation et, ainsi, augmenter les risques d'accident pouvant entraîner des blessures ou des dommages matériels (ou les deux). Mesure corrective : Les concessionnaires devront remplacer la gaine caoutchoutée qui recouvre le joint à rotule par une gaine de contre-mesure. De plus, ils devront inspecter le vilebrequin du moteur d'essuie-glaces, ainsi que le remplacer au besoin.
