The issue

On certain vehicles, the cable between the actuating lever for the secondary hood latch and the secondary latch may become corroded over time. This could cause the secondary hood latch to remain in the open position when the hood is closed. If the vehicle were to be driven with the primary hood latch disengaged, or primary hood latch is released while driving, the secondary hood latch may not hold the hood closed while the vehicle is in motion. If this were to occur, it could compromise the driver’s ability to see the road and its users, as well as cause damage to the windshield. These issues could result in a crash causing injury and/or property damage. Correction: Dealers will replace the secondary hood latch cable.

Sur certains véhicules, le câble entre le levier de commande du verrou de capot secondaire et le verrou lui-même pourrait se corroder avec le temps et faire en sorte que le verrou reste en position ouverte lorsque le capot est fermé. Si le véhicule était utilisé alors que le verrou principal est en position ouverte, ou si le verrou principal était ouvert pendant l'utilisation du véhicule, le verrou secondaire pourrait ne pas maintenir le capot fermé et provoquer l’ouverture de ce dernier ce qui pourrait empêcher le conducteur de voir la route et les autres automobilistes, endommager le pare­brise et provoquer un accident pouvant entraîner des blessures ou des dommages matériels (ou les deux). Mesure corrective : Les concessionnaires devront remplacer le câble du verrou de capot secondaire.
