The issue

On certain motorhomes equipped with a Prestolite starter, the retaining ring on the starter shaft may break without warning, allowing the shaft to extend beyond the starter motor. The motor could continue to be energized and overheat or eventually be subject to an over current condition, which would increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Spartan service centers will replace the starter.

Sur certaines autocaravanes dotées d'un démarreur Prestolite, l'anneau de retenue de l'arbre du démarreur pourrait se briser soudainement et faire en sorte que l'arbre dépasse du démarreur. Ce dernier pourrait continuer à être alimenté en courant et surchauffer ou finir par être soumis à une surintensité, ce qui pourrait augmenter les risques d'incendie pouvant entraîner des blessures ou des dommages matériels (ou les deux). Mesure corrective : Les centres de services Spartan devront remplacer le démarreur.
