The issue

On certain vehicles built on a Freightliner XBR chassis, a rubber-coated braided power steering hose may have inadequate clearance to the starter power stud due to incorrect routing. This could cause the power steering hose to rub against the stud on the starter motor, which could cause an electrical arc and a power steering fluid leak. A power steering leak in the presence of an electrical arc could increase the risk of fire causing injury and/or damage to property. A power steering fluid leak could also require additional steering effort which could increase the risk of a crash causing injury and/or damage to property. Correction: Daimler Trucks of North America Service Facilities will reroute the power steering hose to ensure proper clearance to starter stud.

Dans certains véhicules construits sur un châssis XBR de Freightliner, un tuyau tressé de servodirection enduit de caoutchouc pourrait présenter un dégagement inadéquat par rapport au goujon électrique de démarreur en raison d'un acheminement incorrect. Par conséquent, le tuyau de servodirection pourrait frotter contre le goujon sur le moteur de démarreur, ce qui pourrait causer un arc électrique ainsi qu'une fuite de liquide de servodirection. Une fuite de liquide de servodirection, en présence d'un arc électrique, pourrait augmenter les risques de déclenchement d'un feu pouvant entraîner des blessures ou des dommages matériels (ou les deux). Une telle fuite pourrait aussi nécessiter un plus grand effort à exercer sur le volant, ce qui pourrait augmenter les risques d'accident pouvant entraîner des blessures ou des dommages matériels (ou les deux). Mesure corrective : Les installations d'entretien de Daimler Trucks of North America devront réacheminer le tuyau de servodirection afin d'assurer un dégagement adéquat par rapport au goujon de démarreur.
