The issue

Issue: On certain vehicles equipped with a Cummins B6.7 diesel engine, the electric fuel heater could overheat and melt. Safety Risk: A fuel heater that overheats could create the risk of a fire. This could also cause the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash. Corrective Actions: Cummins will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their vehicle to a Cummins service location to install a new fuel heater and correct the wiring to the fuel heater. Additionally, the fuel heater fuse will be changed to a 30 amp fuse, and the fuse size information in the owner’s manual will be updated.

Problème : Sur certains véhicules équipés d'un moteur diesel Cummins B6.7, le réchauffeur électrique de carburant pourrait surchauffer et fondre. Risques pour la sécurité : Un réchauffeur de carburant qui surchauffe pourrait créer un risque d'incendie, ce qui pourrait également faire caler le moteur et donc augmenter les risques de collision. Mesures correctives : Cummins signalera le problème aux propriétaires touchés par courrier et leur demandera de conduire leur véhicule jusqu’à un centre de service Cummins, où un nouvel appareil de chauffage de carburant sera installé et où le câblage menant à ce dernier sera adéquatement installé. De plus, le fusible de l’appareil sera remplacé par une pièce de 30 A et l’information sur sa taille sera actualisée dans le manuel du propriétaire et le plan de fusible monté dans le véhicule.
