The issue

Issue: On certain trucks equipped with a power locking tailgate, the tailgate may open while driving. If this occurs, cargo that is not secured could fall out of the truck bed and onto the road. Note: This is an expansion of recall U74 (Transport Canada recall 2018-398). Safety Risk: Cargo that falls from the truck bed could create a road hazard for others. Corrective Actions: The company will notify owners by mail and instruct them to take their truck to a dealer to modify the tailgate locking mechanism. Note: This recall supersedes recall 2019-221

Description (français)

Problème : Dans certains camions munis d'un hayon à verrouillage électrique, le hayon pourrait s'ouvrir pendant que le véhicule est en mouvement. Par conséquent, le matériel transporté qui n'est pas fixé en place pourrait tomber hors de la caisse du camion et sur la route. Remarque : Le présent rappel s'ajoute au rappel U74 (rappel 2018-398 de Transports Canada). Risque pour la sécurité : Du matériel qui tombe hors de la caisse du camion pourrait créer un danger routier pour les autres. Mesure corrective : L'entreprise avisera les propriétaires par la poste. Les propriétaires touchés devront amener leur camion chez un concessionnaire afin de faire modifier le mécanisme de verrouillage du hayon.
